The body of a seemingly drowned man, estimated to be in his late 30s, became a fisherman’s catch at a river between Nhlazatshe 4 and Elukwatini on Friday, March 14 in the late afternoon.

According to a statement by the Police, they were informed of this by the Community Service Centre. However, during initial investigation at the scene, it seemed that the victim could have been murdered as bruises and stab wounds were found on the body. The deceased was identified by his sister as Sibuiso Vincent Maseko, the recipient of a disability grant.

The station’s management expressed its sadness and concerns about the rise of contact and violent crimes in the area and invited all concerned stakeholders to work together to fight this surge.

Police are requesting anyone in the community who might have information on what might have happened to Maseko, to phone 082 798 0396 or 072 638 1519. All information will be treated with utmost confidentiality while investigations are continuing.
