The Gert Sibande District Municipality has successfully wrapped up its 2025 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Consultation Programme, concluding a two-week-long series of engagements across all seven of the district’s local municipalities.
The final session was held in the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality, marking the end of a collaborative effort to ensure that community voices are at the heart of the district’s future plans.
The final day of consultations was structured into two key sessions, each designed to foster open dialogue and collaboration.
The first was a comprehensive meeting with local stakeholders and community representatives. During this session, the team presented on the GSDM support programmes currently being implemented to enhance service delivery.
Community members and stakeholders had the opportunity to provide valuable input and feedback, directly contributing to the district’s development strategy.
The second and final engagement was a closing session with the Gert Sibande Local House of Traditional Leaders and Khoi Son.
This meeting served to reaffirm the crucial role of collaboration between the municipality and traditional leadership in shaping a prosperous future for the district.
The discussions underscored a shared commitment to working together to address the needs of the community and drive progress.
These consultations are a cornerstone of the GSDM commitment to inclusive governance.
By actively engaging with traditional leaders, community representatives, and local stakeholders, the municipality ensures that its plans are a true reflection of the people’s priorities and needs.
