CALM Mayor Cllr Mbuso Magubane being briefed by the Municipal Manager Ephraim Thabethe.
The Executive Mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, Cllr Mbuso Magubane, visited the Eerstehoek Water Treatment Works on Tuesday September 02, to assess progress on the ongoing upgrade project.
The visit underscores the municipality’s commitment to ensuring a reliable water supply for all communities and to closely monitor key projects slated for completion within the current financial year.
During his inspection, Mayor Magubane noted that several wards specifically Wards 10, 13, 14, 16, 19, 20, 24, and 25 are experiencing inconsistent water supply as a direct result of the upgrade process.

Expressing his concern for residents, he called on the municipal administration to accelerate the project timeline and implement immediate interventions to assist these affected communities while the work continues.
Despite the challenges, Magubane commended the administration for the progress made so far, particularly in energising the plant to boost its capacity.
He emphasised that once completed, the upgrade will significantly improve water supply reliability for residents across the municipality.

Reaffirming that access to clean and consistent water is a top priority, Mayor Magubane assured the public that the Eerstehoek Water Treatment Works upgrade will be completed within the stipulated financial year, ensuring a more stable and dependable water future for the municipality.
