Following his successful single, “Imithwalo Yethu,” Universal Music Group’s recently signed artist, Ntethe, released his much-anticipated “Back to The Altar.” The title symbolises Ntethe’s return to the gospel music industry after a 6-year hiatus from his career as a multi award-winning gospel artist.
The talented Ntethe is a SABC Crown Gospel Award Winner, one of many accolades. He has so far released two singles from his EP, “Kumnandi,” which dropped in October 2024. This was followed by “Imithwalo Yethu,” featuring gospel musician extraordinaire, Kholeka, in February 2025. Both are to feature on “Back to The Altar.”
“Back to The Altar” consists of six traditional gospel music tracks. This EP opens with a prayer titled, “Yehla” alongside Phumelele ‘China’ Khanye. It also features one of the most highly acclaimed vocalists in the gospel music industry, Putuma Tiso on a track titled “Mawudunyiswe”.
Ntethe said “This body of work is a deeply personal journey with God. On a song like “Ngimbonile,” I sing about how I have seen God throughout my own trials and tribulations. It is a testimony of all the things I have overcome in my life. I also have a praise medley at the end of the EP that incorporates the sound of AmaMpondo, the indigenous people of the Eastern Cape, as an honour to my lineage and where I come from. Everything I am and everything I stand for is embedded in my DNA. But I am human just like everyone else and I believe that anyone will relate to the messages in my music. I believe that my experiences were meant for my enlightenment so that I can heal others. For me, music is a calling.”
Ntethe is also a producer and record label owner of Ntethe Global Effect. “Back to The Altar dropped on April 04 and is available on all credible music platforms.
