Transport minister Sindisiw Chikunga says about 40 learners have been taken to hospital after being involved in a crash invloving two buses near Nhlazatshe in Mpumalanga.
One of the learners is critically injured. The learners were on their way to Elukwatini Stadium where the minister is going to address residents about roads infrastructure projects that are being implemented in the area.
Chikinga says the learners were attending the event to be exposed to different career opportunities that are available in the Transport Department.
The crash is attributed to unroadworthiness of the buses as their brakes failed.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays
