Mpumalanga police have launched an investigation after the bodies of two men were discovered early Tuesday morning, January 20 near the Lily Mine in Barberton.
According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the discovery was made after the police received information regarding two men who were suspected to be deceased at approximately 07:00.
“Upon arriving at the scene, police officers and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel found two males lying on the ground, both covered with blankets. The paramedics declared the dead at the scene. While the exact cause of death has is unknown at this stage however the circumstances surrounding the discovery are currently the subject of a police inquiry,” she said
Ndubane added that one of the deceased has been identified by a relative, who confirmed that the man was his brother and that they were originally from the eSwatini.
However, the second man remains unidentified but police are still attempting to locate the family of the second deceased male.
