The road between R33 and N17, Carolina to Chrissiesmeer, has been closed due to a bridge that has collapsed on Sunday, December 29.
According to the spokesperson for Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, Thapelo Phetla, the municipality wishes to inform the members of the public of the collapse of the bridge on the P177 route. Both directions of the road on the bridge have been completely closed.
“This incident poses serious safety risks to all road users; however, the local authorities are on-site to assess the situation and provide necessary emergency services. For the safety of all road users, the road is now closed between the R33 and N17 until further notice,” he said.
