Elukwatini police have launched an investigation after two people, including a South African Police Service (SAPS) member, were found dead at Nhlazatshe No. 4.

Elukwatini SAPS officers responded to a complaint at the scene, where they found a blue Ford Fiesta believed to belong to the male deceased.

A woman, identified as Silindile Gratitude Motha, was found unresponsive in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. She had sustained gunshot wounds to her head and chest.

Nearby, an African male was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was identified as Constable WS Nkosi, who was attached to the Middelburg Public Order Policing (POP) unit.

Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene, where an EMS practitioner, Mr Makhubu, officially declared both individuals deceased.

Couple found dead

Preliminary information indicates that Motha and Nkosi were in a relationship.

Police have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the motive remains unclear.

Investigators are working to establish what led to the deaths and are expected to gather further evidence and statements as part of the investigation.

The deaths have raised concern in the Nhlazatshe community, while the investigation continues.
