Zenande Chiloane,
The search for missing 22-year-old Zenande Chiloane will continue on Youth Day after rescue teams spent another day combing the crocodile-infested Crocodile River without success on Monday, June 15.
Chiloane has been missing since June 7 when the vehicle he was travelling in with two friends lost control and plunged into the river near Ka-Magugu in the Mbombela area.
In the days following the tragic accident, rescue teams recovered the vehicle from the river along with the bodies of Chiloane’s two friends. However, Chiloane remains unaccounted for, prompting an ongoing search operation involving various emergency and rescue personnel.
On Monday, search teams returned to the river in an effort to locate the missing man, but despite extensive efforts throughout the day, no trace of him was found.
The challenging conditions in the river have complicated the operation, with rescuers having to navigate dangerous waters known to be home to both crocodiles and hippos.
During Monday’s search operation, several hippos and crocodiles were spotted in and around the river, highlighting the risks faced by rescue personnel as they continue their efforts.
Family members and community residents have remained hopeful that Chiloane will be found as search teams persist in their mission.
The operation has drawn significant attention from local communities, who have been following developments since the accident occurred more than a week ago.
Rescue teams are expected to resume the search on Tuesday, June 16, with the hope that improved conditions and continued efforts may lead to a breakthrough.
Authorities have thanked all emergency personnel involved in the operation for their dedication and commitment under difficult circumstances.
As the search enters another day, Chiloane’s family continues to await answers while rescuers remain determined to bring closure to the tragic incident that claimed the lives of two young people and left one still missing in the waters of the Crocodile River.
