The Mpumalanga Provincial Government hosted the Provincial World TB Day Commemoration at Thulamahashe in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality on March 24.
This year, the world TB Day is commemorated under the theme “Yes! We can end TB”.
Giving the message of support, the Chairperson of Provincial House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders Kgoshi Mathupa Mokoena encouraged community members to take caution of TB symptoms by, consuming clean water and regularly visiting the nearest clinics for regular checkups inorder to avoid TB contractions.
Kgoshi Mokoena further requested that community members to continuously provide each other support especially those infected by TB, HIV and AIDS.
During her key note address, Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane said TB remains a great concern for the Mpumalanga Government.
She encouraged people to regard stigma as the thing of the past and should desist from shaming patients with TB as those with HIV and AIDS.
She added that people should collect their medication from the clinics as TB is curable.
