Police in Mayflower have launched a murder investigation after a tragic double homicide on the evening of August 24, at a local tavern. The victims, identified as two brothers, were shot and killed in a brazen attack.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu dubane preliminary reports, police responded to a report of a shooting at the tavern. Upon arrival, officers found a black Ford Ranger parked near the premises.

“A male victim was discovered inside the vehicle, having sustained gunshot wounds to the head. A second male victim, also shot and killed, was found lying on the ground approximately 20 meters away with two gunshot wounds to the chest,”

“It’s alleged that the brothers were seated in the vehicle when an unknown suspect approached and opened fire without warning. The suspect, who is believed to have been wearing either a black or brown coat, fled the scene on foot immediately after the shooting,” Ndubane said.

She added that forensic teams recovered several empty cartridges and a bullet fragment from the scene. The motive for this brutal attack is currently unknown.
