A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested for dealing with dagga in Standerton

A 19-year-old male suspect has been arrested today, Wednesday July 19 for alleged dealing in drugs in Standerton.

According to the provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, members from Standerton K9 Unit received information about a suspect who was allegedly dealing in drug at about 10:30.

Police responded swiftly to the information. Upon arrival police searched the suspect as well as at his house.

“A total of 34 full tablets of suspected , weighing at about 59 grams, 32 sachets of suspected Crystal Meth, weighing at about 31 grams, 22 Pokes of dagga and loose dagga weighing at about 2155 grams as well as R350 were recovered in the premises. The total street value of the suspected drugs recovered is at about R20 000,” he said.

Mohlala added that the man was immediately arrested and charged for dealing in drugs and is expected to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday  July 20 facing the said charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Standerton has welcomed the arrest and appreciated the excellent job from both the police and the whistleblower. The General further reiterated on the stunt by the Police regarding drug peddling. “When it comes to Standerton Magistrate’s Court , Police will never tolerate such a conduct which creates a lot of challenges and has got serious negative influence on crime. We have noted with much concern that often those that abuse drugs are somehow involved in the commission of crime such as theft and housebreaking. By arresting alleged drug peddlers, we believe that we will be addressing the root cause” said the General.
