An elderly, vulnerable woman and the Uthando House Center in Mshadza received food parcels, other necessities and clothes from various benefactors on December 28.
The much needed items were donated by Mpumalanga’s Team Krag 4X4, Hazyview NTT Toyota, the Gladness Foundation, Hazyview Music Festival and Cultural Esprimo.

According to Adam Zwane from Obenyoni Trading, also a member of Team Krag they donated food, a fridge and some clothes to the elderly Maria Bila, who is living in a dilapidated house and not receiving a social grant or has any other source of income.
“I joined Mpumalanga Team Krag because their aim is to help those who are in need in the community that we live in. We saw a need and decided to donate the items to her because she is living in poverty and seeing her crying because of the joy made me happy. I must also thank all those of Mpumalanga’s Team Krag who joined us for this occasion, especially those who gave us donations,” he said.
The team also visited Uthando House, a Centre housing abused and abandoned orphans. They also cater for children living with disabilities and rely on sponsorships and donations.

“I have been supporting the Center for a while now. I am happy Mpumalanga Team Krag has joined me and I would be happy if they could come back and give more assistance to the children. There are also children who are living with disabilities, also needing donations. They too benefited from our visit. We are committed to making a difference in the community and this is the beginning,” Zwane promised.
Zwane is also calling on local businesses, especially those that are operating in the area, to support the center’s that are looking after vulnerable children and families that are in need as part of giving back to the communities.
“I call on businesses that have been awarded tenders in the area to support locals by forms of donation or funds. Center’s like Uthando House need some support so that they can continue giving support to vulnerable kids. We have families that do not have houses or food to eat. We need to support them,” he said.
“I am very grateful for the donation; it will go a long way. I now feel like all my children who passed away have risen. Now I will stop stressing about what I will eat as I used to plant various plants so that I can get something to eat. I would like to thank everyone involved for the donations, may the good Lord bless them,” Maria Bila said
Tracy Malope, Center manager at Uthando House, said, “I am so excited that Team Krag and the other sponsors visited us, as it is Christmas, family time. I am sure the children are also happy that they have this family who loves and take care of them. I am grateful for everything they donated to us.”
