Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, (CALM) in collaboration with provincial traffic officers, the Border Management Authority (BMA), and the South African Police Service (SAPS), launched a road festive operation on the N17 Lochiel December 10. The operation is aimed at ensuring compliance with road regulations and promoting public safety during the festive season.

During the operation, 189 vehicles were stopped, 43 summonses were issued, and three minibuses were impounded. Additionally, four individuals without valid immigration documentation were arrested.

CALM Executive Mayor Cllr. MP Magubane commended the joint effort by law enforcement agencies and emphasized the importance of maintaining road safety during the festive period. He noted the increased traffic volume on the N17 route and stressed the need for strict enforcement of road regulations.

The mayor reiterated that the municipality remains committed to ensuring safe road usage for residents and visitors during this busy time of year.
