As part of a coordinated effort to address the escalating social issues affecting the community, Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM) led a collaboration in a prayer at Tjakastad with Pastors for a Fellowship.
According the CALM executive mayor Daniel Nkosi, the initiative aimed to seek divine intervention after the mass prayer at Empuluzi, particularly during the festive season.
The prayer gathering convened at the Tjakastad taxi rank in Ward 13, drawing numerous stakeholders including the Department of Health, South African Police Service (SAPS), Community Policing Forum (CPF), Community Home-Based Care Workers, and various prayer teams.

“Each participant offered their support and perspectives on combating prevalent issues such as crime, gangsterism, and drug abuse that continue to afflict society. Throughout the meeting, impassioned speeches resonated, conveying messages of solidarity and a call for collective action. Religious leaders and prayer teams led the assembly in passionate prayers, pleading for God’s intervention to alleviate these societal challenges. The special prayers were also offered for the upcoming elections, invoking peace and harmony during this crucial period,” explained Nkosi.
The Executive Mayor also emphasized the power of collective faith, underscoring the belief in Mark 11 verse 24: “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

He also highlighted the importance of entrusting these pressing issues to God Almighty, emphasised the efficacy of faith-driven prayers in resolving complex societal problems.
The gathering concluded with a renewed sense of unity and purpose, echoing the sentiment that while some challenges might seem impossible alone, through collective prayer and community engagement, positive change can be realized.
The collaborative efforts between CALM the Christian Fraternity members in Tjakastad, and the multitude of stakeholders signify a resilient commitment towards addressing and combating the social ills that hinder community growth and well-being.
