In the context of remarkable educational achievements, the municipality proudly secured the fourth position among the 17 local municipalities in the province, showcasing a steadfast commitment to the value of education within its community.

The ceremony serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Municipality towards nurturing academic excellence and fostering a culture of achievement within its educational institutions.

CALM Executive Mayor Daniel Nkosi, speaking at the event, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2023. Quoting William Barclay, he emphasized the significance of discovering one’s purpose in life, suggesting that the graduating class had indeed found theirs through their academic accomplishments.

Nkosi urged learners across all grades to strive for excellence, setting their sights on achieving the municipality’s ambition of claiming the top spot in the province.
Highlighting the role of circuits in determining the venue for the awards ceremony, the Executive Mayor commended the Dundonald circuit for its outstanding performance, which earned it the privilege of hosting the prestigious event this year.

Among the schools praised for achieving a 100% pass rate in the matric exams were Mkolishi Secondary School, Magotshwa Secondary School, and Chief C J Nkosi Secondary School.

However, stealing the spotlight was Chisale Irvis Sibusiso, a student from Simtfolile Secondary School in Fernie, who emerged as the overall best learner in the municipality with an impressive score of 93%.

In his inspirational address, Chisale encouraged his peers not to succumb to undue pressure, reminding them to focus on self-awareness and the importance of surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals who share their dedication to hard work.

The municipality congratulates the class of 2023 while wishing the incoming class of 2024 every success in their academic endeavors.
