In a move that’s sure to cut down on the community’s carbon footprint and their petrol bills and transport fares, the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM) has officially passed the baton – or rather, the shopping cart – over to the people of Dundonald with the grand opening of the Dundonald Shopping Mall. This is not just any mall; it’s a beacon of convenience, rising like a retail to bring shopping bliss closer to home.

CALM Executive Mayor Cllr Daniel Nkosi, expressed his excitement about the impact the mall will have on the community, stating that it will positively change the livelihoods of residents.

He also said municipality recognized the need to create a conducive environment for developers to invest in the community, thereby reducing the necessity for long journeys to purchase groceries.

“While the municipality is not directly responsible for constructing malls, it played a crucial role in ensuring that the location was suitable for development, including providing essential infrastructure such as water, sanitation, and electricity. CALM remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through strategic development projects. ” he said.

Developers involved in the project commended the professionalism of the municipal team throughout the construction process.

The opening of the shopping mall has not only provided convenient access to goods for residents but has also created numerous job opportunities, contributing significantly to the local economic development.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was the talk of the town. Residents flocked to explore the new temple of commerce, which promises to be the ultimate hotspot for everything from groceries to the latest fashion. It’s like the community hit the jackpot, but instead of coins, they got jobs – lots of them – boosting the local economy faster than you can say.
