Elukwatini Police are investigating not only the rape of an elderly woman between the age of 60-65, but also her murder.

According the spokesperson for Elukwatini Police Station, Wiseman Nkosi, they received a complaint on Monday January 27 about a woman who was found dead inside her home.

“Upon our arrival, police found a naked elderly woman with bruises and strangle marks on her neck. She was bleeding from the nose and private parts. Her body was hidden under her matrass and blankets. All relevant stakeholders were called and she was certified dead by Embhuleni Emergency Services personnel,” he said.

Nkosi added that certain items were also missing from the victim’s house; a new set of pots, cell phones, a television and her smart identity card.
