Several entrance gates to certain Kruger National Park (KNP) are affected by the ongoing rain across Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

According to the SANPark’s spokesperson, JP Louw, guests are urged to use the most direct routes to access camps and not travel on roads which could already be closed, causing much frustration.

KNP visitors should take note:

• Access to Skukuza Rest Camp should be via Paul Kruger Gate.
• Phabeni Gate is currently still open, but could be closed at short notice as river levels rise. Regular updates would warn guests if the gate is closed.
• Access to Malelane Satellite Camp and Berg en Dal Rest Camp is via Malelane Gate.
• Access to the Crocodile Bridge and Lower Sabie Rest Camps is via Crocodile Bridge Gate. River levels are being monitored and updates would be shared should this gate be closed.
• Access to Orpen and Satara Rest Camps is via Orpen Gate.
• Access to the Olifants, Letaba and Mopani Rest Camps is via Phalaborwa Gate or Orpen Gate.
• Pafuri and Punda Maria Gate remain closed and inaccessible.
• No access from Skukuza to Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge, Tshokwane and Satara as the Sabie Low Water Bridge and other detours are all flooded.
• There is also no open roads between Lower Sabie and Tshokwane due to the H10’s closure.
• Access to Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is via Numbi Gate or Phabeni Gate.

“It is important to note that there is no access to the far north of the Park and the situation remains the same. Guests are reminded to regularly check the KNP’s social media and websites for updates on road closures and those temporally opened,” Louw said.

The Crocodile Bridge is officially closed and visitors to Lower Sabie will not be able to leave the park until the water levels subside. The situation is being monitored and guests will be updated of any developments.

There is also no access between Lower Sabie and Tshokwane, due to the closure of the H10 road.
