The MEC for Education, Cathy Dlamini extends her profound appreciation to all the teachers who participated in the Winter Classes programme which will be ending today July 5.
Held throughout Mpumalanga province, these classes started on June 24 in 89 day centres and 12 residential centres meant for the 153 schools that obtained less than 70% pass rate in the 2023 National Senior Certificate Examination Results .
These centres offered 11 high enrolment subjects, nutrition and scholar transport to learners who attended.
Best performing teachers were selected to teach in these winter classes according to the pass rate they obtained in the NSC examinations.
MEC Dlamini visited some of these centres and was much encouraged by the level of commitment, dedication and willingness to go an extra mile by these teachers.
“We truly lack the words that can capture our sincere gratitude to thank our teachers.
They sacrificed their time, lovely and memorable moments they could have spent with their lovely families for the sake of providing the needed support to our children.
We remain indebted to them and we are optimistic that the future of our Province is bright judging by the kind of patriotic gesture of altruism from all our teachers who always go an extra mile.
As schools will be re-opening for the third term, we are certain that our teachers will do everything humanly possible to prepare our learners for the final examinations which are around the corner.
“We equally wish to welcome all our teachers back from the much deserved holidays as we pledge our undivided support throughout the year. Siyabonga Kakhulu,” said MEC Dlamini.
