This year’s Metro FM Awards were officially launched at Angel’s View Hotel on January 29. This annual ceremony will take place at the Mbombela Stadium on May 3, the third consecutive event held in Mpumalanga.
The launch saw Leah Mabuza, MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, delivering the keynote address, spurring on Mpumalanga residents to support its local artists and fill the large stadium.
“We share a common script and a commitment to recognise and celebrate excellence in the creative arts industry.
Hosting the Metro FM Awards is one of the mechanisms to sustain and grow the already vibrant tourism industry in the province. We are packaging the annual Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience with the Metro FM Awards, which have grown over the years, becoming a significant and strategic building block for our signature event,” Mabuza said.
Guests at the launch were treated to musical performances by renowned local artists such as Bassie, Brandon DhluDhlu and others.
