Astron Energy filling station.
Motorists are flocking to filling stations to top up their tanks ahead of tonight’s fuel price increase, even as a diesel shortage continues to worsen in the area.
Several stations have already run dry, and many of those that still have stock have reduced purchase limits from 200 liters to 100 liters per customer. Furthermore, bulk purchases are currently prohibited at most locations.
While some stations have temporarily reduced their prices per liter to assist motorists, others are maintaining prices above R25.00 per liter.
The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has confirmed the official fuel price adjustments taking effect on Wednesday, April 1.
Petrol prices will increase by R3.06 per liter, while diesel will see staggering increases of R7.37 and R7.51 per liter.
