A 34-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested for alleged drug dealing in Balfour on May 26.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, members of the Crime Prevention Unit acted on information about a foreign national reportedly selling drugs at a residence in the area. Upon arrival, police requested permission to search the premises.
“During the search of one of the bedrooms, officers inspected the bed and discovered drugs hidden underneath the mattress inside the bed base,” said Ndubane.
Police seized 300 Mandrax tablets and a bag of crystal meth during the operation.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is expected to appear before the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on May 27.
Police have urged community members to continue working closely with law enforcement by reporting suspicious or criminal activities, emphasising that community cooperation is key in the fight against crime.
