Belinda Sibongile Pilson (Sibo Pilson), has become a prominent figure within Mpumalanga’s entertainment industry. Known for her work as a radio and TV presenter, content creator, master of ceremonies, DJ and public speaker, Sibo’s journey has been one of resilience, growth and impact.
Despite setbacks, including a career pause due to COVID-19, Sibo emerged stronger, evolving into the dynamic personality recognized today as CityGogo.
Sibo returned to the entertainment scene amid a fresh wave of success, releasing two singles, A Kasa Bambeki and Emdubane, in collaboration with The House Keepers and Durban DJ/producer, DJ Zehny. Her signature event, Sundowners with Sibo, is a themed monthly mix session, available on digital platforms, with plans to expand it into an outdoor event series in 2025.
In addition, Sibo hosts the #Back@EkasiSundayExperience, a Sunday session held in the heart of Ngodini, Kabokweni. This event brings together younger and older lovers of house, dance and soul music; those still residing in the area or who had moved to urban environments. The session provides a relaxed, appealing environment, bringing together different generations and music enthusiasts. The #Back@EkasiSundayExperience offers a welcoming space for those who enjoy social interactions, but who may be hesitant or too introverted to fully explore these.
Apart from providing entertainment, Sibo is dedicated to giving back to her community. Through her “Womandla Talks” campaign, she provides a platform for women to discuss social issues such as domestic violence, sexuality and mental health. Another impactful initiative is the “67 Dignity Bags” project, inspired by the 67 minutes for Mandela Day. It provides hygiene kits to young girls and boys, encouraging self-respect and health awareness.
In 2023, Sibo launched the “Youth in Action” programme as part of the Sibo Pilson Foundation. This initiative empowers young people from underprivileged backgrounds by offering mentorship, support and encouragement to pursue their dreams. Through her Foundation, she also organizes charity events, extending her influence and positive impact across Mpumalanga and beyond.
Sibo’s impressive milestones reflect her versatility and talent. She has been a Drive Time Show Host on Rise FM, a presenter for MTV Base and FaceTV and received the Sunrise Women’s 2016 Favourite Radio Personality Award. She has also been a nominated for the “I Am Woman I Am Power” awards in the 2018 Women in Media category and won Best Weekend Show at the Sunshine Media Awards, the same year.
Sibo’s uses social media to connect with her supporters and partners with brands in content creation and influencer marketing. Interacting with her more than 16,000 followers allows her to reach and inspire a broad audience. With her passion, determination and dedication to uplifting her community, Sibo Pilson is truly her ancestors’ greatest prophecy come to life.
