A healthy, long life will ensure South Africa (SA) is globally noted as the country is set to host the fourth International Longevity Summit (ILS) from September 10-11 in Durban.
Driven by an international futuristic think tank, The Transdisciplinary Agora for Future Discussions (TAFFD’s), in collaboration with its non-profit subsidiary, Afrolongevity, the ILS would address critical life expectancy gaps in Africa. SA and KZN Tourism would, with other global change makers, explore the continent’s unique potential with regards to this science.
The ILS is a pivotal platform for advancing longevity science and its various applications.
A hugely successful event was held in Nigeria last year. However, the 2025 meeting is poised to outshine all former events. Held at the Sibaya Hotel and Casino in Durban, 200 to 300 global researchers, clinicians, policymakers, investors and thought leaders are expected to share insights and discuss the future of longevity science.
It would highlight the transdisciplinary nature of longevity science, a field requiring collaboration across various sectors. These discussions, supported by the Mangosuthu University of Technology, would focus on biological causes of aging.
The Summit would also discuss ways to harness Africa’s unique opportunities through trade, technology and innovation towards addressing aging challenges.
The ILS agenda reflects the comprehensive nature of longevity science and is to feature a diverse range of topics by way of keynote addresses, presentations and interactive sessions.
Key themes include:
- Longevity Research and Innovation: Showcasing the latest scientific breakthroughs and pioneering research in the field;
- Preventative, Regenerative and Rejuvenation Medicine: Exploring medical practices, not only treating disease, but to also restore health and vitality;
- Nutritional and Health Supplementation: Examining the fundamental role of diet and supplements for a healthy lifespan;
- Longevity Investment, Policy and Diplomacy: Discussions regarding necessary economic and political frameworks to support and advance longevity initiatives;
- Medical Tourism and cutting-edge Wellness Solutions: Highlighting Africa’s potential as a destination for advanced medical and wellness treatments and
- Artificial Intelligence, Block chain and Distributed Economy for Longevity: Exploring emerging technologies and how these could revolutionize health, wellness and the longevity ecosystem.
Discussion panels, delegate engagements and a masterclass on practical applications had been designed to provide attendees with hands-on experience towards a deeper understanding of the field.
