A 29-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly found sleeping with bones which he had exhumed from two graves in Swalala village near Hazyview.
According to a provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli the Masoyi police received a tip-off from a woman that a man, aged 29, had dug up the graves of his father and grandfather.

Following the tip-off, the police rushed to the local cemetery to investigate.
“Members of the Visible Policing Unit at Masoyi promptly attended to the complaint and upon arrival at the cemetery, confirmed that the graves had indeed been disturbed as reported. Swift action was taken to locate the suspect who was found at his residence in Swalala,” he said.
Mdhluli, said the police entered his RDP house found him asleep, with the bones believed to belong to his relatives positioned beside him.
He was immediately arrested and has been charged with the violation of graves.
“The bones were confiscated and are now part of an extensive investigation being conducted by police Service, with authorities vowing to get to the bottom of the disturbing case,” said Mdhluli.
He said the suspect has been scheduled to appear in the Masoyi Periodical Court on Wednesday, April 30.
