Undocumented foreign national arrested for possession of drugs and stolen property

A 45-year-old foreign national from Angola was nabbed with different kinds of suspected drugs as well as suspected stolen electrical appliances in Hendrina, Monday, June  12.

A provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the police conducted a search at a certain flat where the suspect, without documentation to prove his legality in  South Africa, was found.

“Amongst the recovered substances, 116 pinches of suspected Nyaope, five packs of suspected Crystal Meth, and suspected CAT, estimated at a street value of about R5 500. In addition to the recovered substances, five plasma TV sets and a projector believed to have been stolen were also seized,”

“Police further arrested two other foreign nationals, aged 35 and 44, from Nigeria after discovering that they did not have valid documentation to be in the country. The police are working in partnership with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the three foreign nationals,” he said.

All three suspects are expected to appear in Hendrina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, June 14.
