Vuyo Mavimbela
Vuyo Mavimbela, a budding athletic star from Laerskool Badplaas, once showed heels to his competitors at the 2026 BUCO Lowveld Inter High Athletics and made his school proud.
His stellar performance against the region’s elite young runners ensured he brought home the gold.
His discipline, stamina and racing style were on full display as he secured a podium place and a silver medal during the 1500m Boys U/14, after his gold win in the in the 800m Boys U/14 event.
Despite his fatigue, he pushed himself to the limit during both these gruelling middle-distance events.
After these performances, Vuyo is now firmly established as one of the top athletes in the Lowveld.
In a statement by the school’s management, his rigorous training, grit and determination were praised as much as him winning the medal.
“Vuyo’s performance wasn’t just about speed; it was about heart. He represented our school with excellence and we couldn’t be more thrilled for him.”
