A 29-year-old Carolina man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 9, after police found him in possession of drugs worth nearly R20,000.
Police received information about Sandile Success Thwala, who was allegedly involved in dealing drugs around Carolina.
Acting on the information, Carolina police followed up on the tip-off and confronted Thwala at his home, where he was found in possession of various drugs.
Police seized 423 packets of nyaope, 36 packets of crystal methamphetamine and eight packets of rock cocaine, with the drugs having an estimated street value of R19,755.
Officers also seized R408 in cash.
Thwala appeared before the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, September 9, facing a charge of dealing in drugs.
The court granted him bail of R5,000.
The arrest forms part of ongoing police efforts to disrupt the illegal drug trade in Carolina and prevent drugs from reaching communities.
