SANParks confolirmed that an elephant trampled a man to death in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Sunday January 26.

It is alleged that the victim was trying to save his two grandchildren from the elephant next to them.

 

According to SANParks’ jointeleeele statement issued by its head of communications, JP Louw, and KNP spokesperson Isaac Phaahla, the elephant charged and trampled a tourist to death near the Crocodile River at the Malelane Gate.

“Due to the sensitivity of this matter, we appeal to the public to refrain from posting any pictures or videos of the incident and the victim,” said the statement. “SANParks’ board members and management extend their heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and friends.”
