The Carolina police arrested four suspects, between the ages of 24 and 34, for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition on Tuesday March 04.
According to the spokesperson for Carolina police station, Thabang Mokwana, they received information about a suspicious Toyota Yaris with four occupants, driving on the R36 towards Carolina from eManzana. SAPS members intercepted the vehicle.

“The car was stopped with the suspects inside and searched, during which a firearm and 17 live ammunition rounds were found. This resulted in the arrest of the four men,” he said.
The suspects were charged with unlawful possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. It is still unclear whether they were planning to commit a crime at the time of their arrest but an investigation is underway. The confiscated firearm will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether it had been previously used during a crime.

The four men are expected to appear at the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 05 on a charge of contravening the Firearm Control Act 60 of 2000 sect 120(1)(a).
