Mandla Ndlovu, Speed Mashilo, Nompumelelo Hlophe , and Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko
The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga recently concluded its highly anticipated elective conference at the Mbombela Stadium, marking a significant moment of consolidation for the party in the province.
With over 700 delegates in attendance, the conference focused on stabilising leadership ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The results saw a strong show of confidence in the incumbent leadership, with most of the Top Five officials being re-elected to their positions.
The following individuals were elected to lead the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC):
- Provincial Chairperson: Mandla Ndlovu (Re-elected)
- Deputy Provincial Chairperson: Speedy Mashilo (Re-elected)
- Provincial Secretary: Muzi Chirwa (Re-elected)
- Deputy Provincial Secretary: Nompumelelo Hlophe (Re-elected)
- Provincial Treasurer: Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko (Newly Elected)
The most notable change in the top structure was the election of Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko, the Executive Mayor of Mbombela, as the new Provincial Treasurer.
She replaces Mandla Msibi, who had previously held the post but has faced legal challenges and suspension, leading to his exclusion from the current top leadership slate.
The re-election of Mandla Ndlovu, who also serves as the Premier of Mpumalanga, reinforces his position as the political heavyweight of the province.
His leadership is widely seen as aligned with the national party’s renewal agenda.
The re-elected Secretary, Muzi Chirwa, emphasised that the primary goal of this newly minted committee is to reclaim lost ground in municipalities and strengthen the party’s visibility across the province.
The conference also prioritised the election of 30 additional members to the PEC, ensuring a balance of gender and regional representation to drive the party’s operations.
