With a career spanning over two decades, DJ and producer, Mxolisi Roman Mathebula, known as Moxion Deep-SA, shows no signs of slowing down as he is about to release a new song.
Moxion Deep from Nhlazatshe, collaborated with well-known artist, DJ Tira, in his music video for his upcoming single Bawelile, also featuring Dlala Dlala Mr Que.
Another new album is also in the offing – Hold My Hands. On this album, his fans can expect to experience something of all the different facets of Moxion Deep-SA they had grown to love.
“I am trying to do different scenarios because the album has different vibes, turning gqom into gospel sounds or turning gospel into gqom songs. The song, Bawelile, is more of an urban, classy song. I’m also trying to position Moxion’s brand in such a way that my music also caters to those who enjoy beautiful music without going down the piano tempo.
“I can still do house music, not the typical gqom music that they know Moxion for. I’m coming more soulfully, trying to touch the ladies, the upper market. I’m basically trying to cater to most people that love Moxion Deep-SA, from those who know me for my earlier music,” he said.
He added that the album has a mix of songs, even a collaboration one wouldn’t necessarily expect: Spillion CPT, Tar Lish, DJ Lifa, Dust Dee, and DJ Ntsira SA.
“You will have to listen to the song for you to decide what genre it is. For me, it’s nice and emotional and since they managed to sing on the song and make such a beautiful song, I guess I got them exactly where I wanted them.”
Moxion Deep-SA has experienced all the different phases of music our country has been through, but maintained relevance throughout, coming a long way since he won the Battle of DJ’s at the Zibonele FM competition in 2017 and 2023.
“I would like to position myself as a people’s person. I am loved by all kinds of people and I try to make sure that I cater to those who are growing with me. Twenty-one years later, I’m still here; I’m still giving people good music and I’m showing no sign of stopping.”
Despite successfully hostings Moxion’s live concert at the On-going Spillion CPT, Tar Lish, DJ Lifa, Dust Dee, and DJ Ntsira SA. explained that he does have doubts about doing it again next year.
