Samkelo Shabangu, also known as “Rooi”
Samkelo Shabangu, also known as “Rooi”, appeared before the Mayflower Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 7, in connection with the alleged murder of Bhekeni Isaac Zwane.
According to the police allegations, the incident occurred on June 22 in Glenmore, where Shabangu and Zwane were reportedly involved in an argument at around midnight.
It is alleged that the argument escalated into an altercation during which Shabangu allegedly stabbed Zwane. Zwane sustained serious injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.
Shabangu appeared in court on Monday, where the matter was postponed to September 14 to allow him an opportunity to secure legal representation.
He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
The allegations against Shabangu have not been tested in court, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
