SASSA beneficiaries urged to replace Gold Cards before August 31 deadline

For illustration purposes.

SASSA social grant beneficiaries have less than a week to replace their Postbank Gold Cards with new Postbank Black Cards before the  August 31 deadline.

Postbank has urged beneficiaries who have not yet completed the migration to act as soon as possible, warning that Gold Cards are being phased out and will no longer function once the migration process has been concluded.

Beneficiaries who fail to replace their cards before the deadline could face disruptions when accessing their social grant payments.

Postbank has also cautioned beneficiaries against waiting until their usual grant payment dates to replace their cards. As the deadline approaches, increased demand at card replacement sites could result in longer queues and delays.

Where to replace your Gold Card

Postbank Black Cards are available at selected retailers nationwide, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar.

Card replacement sites operate Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

Beneficiaries can dial *120*355# from their mobile phones to locate their nearest card replacement site.

The replacement process is free of charge. Beneficiaries are required to present a valid South African identity document or temporary ID when applying for the new card.

Postbank has encouraged beneficiaries to visit a nearby Postbank service point for enquiries relating to Gold Cards and Black Cards, rather than visiting SASSA offices.

Beneficiaries requiring assistance with payment-related matters can contact the Postbank call centre on 0800 535 455. The call centre can assist with queries relating to missed payments, PIN-related problems, lost or stolen cards, card reissues and declined transactions.

With the deadline fast approaching, beneficiaries are encouraged not to delay the card replacement process to avoid possible disruptions to their grant payments.
