The organisers of the Mayors Charity Golf day
The Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview recently hosted an empowering golf event to benefit the needy children in Bushbuckridge.
The golf tournament was held in conjunction with The Pristine Ladies Golf Club (PLGC) and the South African Women in Construction (SAWiC).
The main sponsor of the hugely successful Executive Mayor’s Charity Golf Day was Emalangeni Technologies. The greens were alive with business leaders, community members and government officials to support this philanthropic cause.
The primary goal of the event was to raise essential fuhttps://chiefalbertluthulinews.co.za/the-executive-ma…nity-and-charity/https://chiefalbertluthulinews.co.za/the-executive-mayors-golf-day-a-winning-drive-for-community-and-charity/nds for the Orinoco C Drop-In Centre in BBR. The Centre operates from a single-room with limited resources.

Despite this, it provides daily meals and educational support to more than 155 vulnerable children from impoverished families in Orinoco and surrounding areas.
Monies raised would be used to improve the Centre’s infrastructure, acquire vital equipment, as well as provide basic educational materials to enhance learning and development.
The event was a powerful example of what can be achieved when different sectors work together for the greater good. PLGC’s President, Mahlatse Malibe, emphasized that the golf day was more than just a sporting event, but a platform to build partnerships, empower communities and uplift the next generation.

“We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, players and partners for making this event a reality,” she said.
The event underscored the ANC’s Local Government Manifesto; advocating for partnerships between government, civic organizations and the private sector to benefit local communities.
This collaborative spirit was highlighted by the presence of two high-profile government officials – the MEC for Health, Sasekani Manzini and the MEC for Culture, Sports and Recreation (DCSR), Leah Mabuza.
Mabuza said golf is not a sport for only a specific race but for all people. She encouraged everyone to engage in it and highlighted the health benefits of its physical activity.

“We encourage people to play golf and our plan as a department is to see all people engage in it. As we celebrate Women’s Month, it fis good to see more women participating in the sport and raising funds for a good cause,” she said.
The money would be handed over to the Orinoco C Drop-In Centre soon, providing a much-needed boost towards the organization’s efforts to support the region’s most vulnerable children.
The winners of the tournament were Laurence Mthobothi and Puso Maloka, who each received a brand new golf bag for their woods, putters and irons.
