The Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, CALM hosted a Mayoral Imbizo, hosted on September 29 at Kagogo Lamagadlela. Themed ‘Cultural Imbizo,’ this event was a celebration of the municipality rich heritage and a platform for open dialogue between the municipal leadership and the community.
According to the Executive Mayor Daniel Nkosi, the essence of a Mayoral Imbizo is to foster two-way communication, where the municipality present the municipal service delivery report and actively engage the community in decision-making processes.

Executive Mayor highlighted the significant improvements in service delivery since 1994, including free basic education, increased access to water and electricity. He mentioned that there is funding for the Manzana water reticulation project, and announced plans to renovate the Manzana Cultural Centre.
Nkosi, called upon all South Africans to embrace patriotism, recognizing the many benefits our country provides, such as grants, free education, and school feeding schemes. He encouraged youth to love their country and appreciate the opportunities it offers.
Chief Dlamini from Kagogo Lamagadlela welcomed the community with warmth, emphasizing the overwhelming support shown by everyone in their traditional attire.

“We were honoured by the presence of different royal kingdoms and the Executive Mayor from the Gert Sibande District, who praised our municipality’s initiative to do imbizo on such a significant month the cultural month and promised to share this idea with other local municipalities.

Health Coordinator Khulelaphi Mkhwanazi delivered an important message about HIV/AIDS awareness and the need for support and inclusion in our community.

The event concluded with community members sharing their thoughts and concerns about service delivery.
The Cultural Imbizo was a resounding success, filled with vibrant performances by ‘Tingabisa’ and Bafana ‘Besibhaca’, which brought joy to our community.
