Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM) hosted Mayoral Imbizo at Mbejeka, Ward 18, on Friday April 19.

The Imbizo was led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr Daniel Nkosi, the event served as a platform for meaningful two-way communication between the municipality and the community.

The primary objective of the Imbizo was to present the municipal service delivery report and encourage community involvement in decision-making processes. This engagement allowed the municipality to interact directly with residents and address their concerns regarding municipal issues or service delivery challenges.

In his address, Executive Mayor expressed appreciation for the community’s attendance and emphasized the municipality’s duty to provide essential services such as water and sanitation, electricity, free basic services, road infrastructure, and facilities.

He highlighted the importance of events like the Imbizo in ensuring effective service delivery.
One notable achievement highlighted by Nkosi was the municipality’s success in providing electricity to residents. Among the 17 local municipalities in the province, CALM stands out for leading in the number of households connected to electricity.

the municipality demonstrated its commitment to supporting local agricultural cooperatives by donating two 50kg manure and 50 seedlings to four cooperatives in the area, namely Siyathulisana, Sibuyela emandvulo, Impumelelo yemaswati, and K2023 farming project.

In addition, the Executive Mayor fulfilled his promise by donating a soccer kit to a local football club, as part of the municipality’s commitment to support sports development in the communities that they serve.

The Imbizo provided a platform for to voice their concerns regarding service delivery, and the Executive Mayor responded to these issues, promising to address them promptly. The event concluded on a positive note, with both the municipality and the community reaffirming their commitment to working together for the betterment of the municipality.
