The Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM,) in collaboration with the Office of the Premier, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM), hosted an Ethics, Anti-Fraud and Corruption Awareness Workshop in Carolina on April 15.

According to CALM’s spokesperson, Thapelo Phetla, the workshop forms part of ongoing efforts promoting clean governance, ethical leadership and accountability across all government levels.

“It brought together municipal officials to discuss issues relating to fraud prevention, ethical behaviour and the fight against corruption. The workshop also focused on zero tolerance for fraud and corruption and equipping attendees with tools to identify, prevent and report unethical behaviour,” he said.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions and presentations from governance experts, internal auditors and law enforcement.

Key presentations were delivered by representatives from the SIU, the Office of the Premier and GSDM. It highlighted strategies to identify and report unethical behaviour. It also addressed understanding of applicable legislation and fostering a culture of integrity in public administration and service delivery.
