The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, has urged applicants to be wary of scammers and those who will attempt to solicit money in exchange for the posts; particularly with regards to the recently advertised Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW’s) jobs advertisements.
Macie was reacting to a voice note widely circulated on social media with a South African Police Service (SAPS) member in Nkangala Region, warning applicants about certain individuals informing applicants to certify their documents and a certain police station for alleged selection process.
“The Department will contact all selected and shortlisted candidates via landline telephone numbers. Government jobs, internships and learnerships are not for sale. We condemn in the strongest possible terms the criminals who pretend to be government employees or SAPS members.
We therefore appeal to prospective job seekers not to make themselves vulnerable to those opportunistic vultures who take advantage of desperate job seekers,” Macie warned. The posts for 1200 CPW’s were recently advertised in the media on Sunday, 07 July 2024 with the closing date, Friday, 19 July 2024. All applications were done online.
All other processes will unfold in due course. The MEC has further applauded the SAPS member for blowing the lid on the alleged scammer. He has also encouraged members of the public to report such incidents to the police and to Department. The he public must immediately such actions to the Anti-Corruption hotline on 0800 701 701 or the Crime Stop hotline: 08600 10111.
