Local Traditional Leaders were afforded an opportunity to make inputs and suggestions on the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) Integrated Development Plan (IDP) during a consultative meeting at eManzana (formerly Badplaas) on Tuesday, 17 May chaired by Speaker of Council Cllr Busisiwe Sekhonde.

This was after the GSDM Executive Mayor Councillor Walter Mngomezulu had presented the draft IDP and Budget to the Local House of Traditional Leaders.
Mngomezulu said it was critical for Traditional Leaders to make inputs and suggestions on both the District Municipality’s IDP and budget. “This is in line with the resolution taken by the GSDM Council to make Traditional Leaders the first point of entry when implementing projects in their areas. It is also in line with the call by our country’s President of ‘Leave No One Behind’ through the District Development Model,” added Councillor Mngomezulu.
Councillor Mngomezulu also reported to the Local House of Traditional Leaders that the GSDM has consulted and received inputs and suggestions from a majority of the local municipalities on the draft IDP and Budget.
