As usual with school holidays, the Kruger National Park (KNP) is expecting an influx of visitors during this period.

The KNP’s spokesperson, Reynold Thakhuli, urged visitors to the Park, from Saturday, June 28 to July 21, to book in advance. He also requested them to stringently obey the KNP’s rules.

Time slots and gate quotas:
• Time slot 1: 06.00 to 20:00
• Time slot 2: 08:00 to 22:00
• Time slot 3: 10:00 onwards

“Plans for increased visibility of traffic officials and visitor management personnel are being implemented. They would monitor speeding, after-hours travelling and general road behaviour.

KNP’s management is urging visitors to cooperate with officials on duty and to report deviant behaviour to gate officials. They can also call the emergency call centre number printed on the entry permits,” Thakhuli said.

Motorists with temporary vehicle registration plates should provide documentation of ownership at the gates to be allowed entry or when exiting the Park.

“Any vehicle, with missing number plates, found inside the Park, would be impounded. The driver would be charged under the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, Act No. 57, 2003 and fined. SANParks Ranger Services, Environmental Crime Investigation and Protection Services Units, as well as the South African National Defence Force, will be out in full force to ensure compliance,” he said.

Tourists are also urged not to remove No Entry signs as it could pose danger to others. Visitors should plan their trips, allowing sufficient time to enjoy the bush, relax and arrive safely at their destination.

Visitors must obtain the latest camp and gate information, such as road closures, at gate reception offices. Alternatively, they can visit the KNP’s social media platforms.
