The Dundonald Mall became a beacon of hope and unity on November 30 when is hosted an Anti-Gender-Based Violence and Femicide run, aimed at combating violence against women and children.
The event was not just a race but a powerful pledge by the community to stand against the violation of vulnerable groups in society.

The run featured three categories: a 12km route from Waverly to the mall, a 6km route from Glenmore to the mall, and an 800m fun run near the mall. Participants from all walks of life joined, demonstrating their commitment to the cause and creating an atmosphere of solidarity and purpose.
After the run, representatives from various government departments and stakeholders addressed the community.
They provided insights on how to identify and prevent gender-based violence and shared practical advice on de-escalating conflicts. Emphasis was placed on the importance of reporting GBVF cases and fostering a culture of accountability to protect women and children.

Prizes were awarded to the winners in each category, celebrating their efforts and participation.
Additionally, all participants received tokens of appreciation, symbolizing their shared commitment to the fight against GBVF.
The Anti-GBVF run at Dundonald Mall marks another significant step in the collective effort to eradicate gender-based violence in the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality.
